Philippine WW2 Japanese Medals
During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, no coins were minted. Instead, the Japanese Imperial Army issued banknotes, known as Japanese Invasion Money, which served as currency not only in the Philippines but across occupied Southeast Asian territories.
Additionally, Japan commissioned commemorative medals to mark its victories in the Philippines. These medals were typically made from silver—sourced from captured currencies—or bronze, serving as symbolic artifacts of Japan's military achievements in the region.
